A concealed Bitcoin surprise can be found within Apple’s MacOS
Did you hear about the mysterious hiding place of Bitcoin's white paper? It's been lurking in plain sight on every modern version of Apple's Mac operating system!
According to a recent blog post by technologist Andy Baio, he stumbled upon the elusive paper while trying to fix his printer. Talk about a pleasant surprise!
Baio discovered that the white paper had been hidden under the guise of a "Virtual Scanner II device." But when he changed the media type from "Photo" to "Document," voila! The white paper magically appeared.
Baio couldn't believe his luck, exclaiming, "I wasn't looking for the Bitcoin paper! I was trying to fix my printer!" It's a good thing he did, but we might still wonder where Satoshi's famous paper went.
As for why the white paper was included in modern versions of macOS, Baio could only speculate. He guessed it might have been a "convenient, lightweight multipage PDF for testing purposes, never meant to be seen by end users." Either that or maybe Steve Jobs was a secret Bitcoin fan. Unfortunately, we may never know the truth.
Here’s how you can check it out too-
Type this into the terminal:
open /System/Library/Image\ Capture/Devices/VirtualScanner.app/Contents/Resources/simpledoc.pdf
