It operates using short-lived virtual UTXOs (vTXOs) that expire after four weeks, enhancing coin ownership anonymity. The protocol also introduces an intermediary called the Ark Service Provider (ASP), which acts as a liquidity provider, CoinJoin coordinator, and Lightning service provider. Integration with the Lightning Network allows for interoperability and enables immediate spending of vTXOs without waiting for on-chain confirmations.

While Ark offers potential for future enhancements, its claims of revolutionising off-chain Bitcoin transactions should be taken with a grain of salt.

In a nutshell, Burak's Ark protocol aims to streamline payments on the Bitcoin network by providing a fast and efficient Layer 2 solution. By using virtual UTXOs and incorporating an intermediary ASP, Ark promises scalability and improved transaction speed. However, the extent to which it can truly transform the landscape of off-chain transactions remains to be seen, and skepticism is warranted.
